# Caps web toast stack

## The problem

> "If we have a whole bunch of them we should figure out how to dismiss them or only show the last few."

- Copying links or sending texts built a tall column of messages.

## What we considered

### A. Last three, rest counted {chosen}

- Stays short; older messages one click away.

### B. One at a time

- Simplest; a quick second message hides the first.

### C. Cap, merge and sticky errors

## What we went with

- At most three messages show, newest at the bottom.
- Older ones fold into "+N more · Dismiss all".
- Hovering still pauses them.

Messages no longer stack up the screen. You see the latest three and can clear the rest at once.
